I wrote this back in April but never published it.
I know they’ll be just fine without me but this year’s junior class has been monumental to my sanity in drama club these past two years. You guys are my closest friends and confidantes; you make school worth going to and Skip’s shitty attitude worth enduring. You are my little freshmen all grown up and I’m proud when I think of the people you were when we first met and the people you are today. I can only hope that I’ve changed and grown up just as well. Despite all the turbulence, I wouldn’t change a thing about this year. I believe we’ve grown tremendously and there’s been plenty of good times to counteract the bad.
With that in mind, don’t be too harsh on the underclassmen. I didn’t think I would be either but all the responsibility and power of being a senior goes to your head real quick. You don’t realize that you’re being a little too blunt or snappy when you’ve got a billion things on your mind and senioritis is looming over your head.
Just have fun, you guys. Everything seemed like it was a life or death situation this year and it really doesn’t have to be that way. Loosen up but don’t get out of control. Remember, leadership is not bullying your way into being followed. Respect the people you want to listen to you and treat them accordingly. They are your drama family too, even the freshmen.
I wish you a million broken legs next year and all the luck dots in the world.
